Waterblack is an award-winning band from Cyprus producing alternative music. The band was founded in 1998 by childhood friends Andreas Economides (Vocals, Guitar) and Chris Charalambides (Keyboards). They relocated to London in 2000 and while studying at university, recorded their EP Humble Parades in 2001. In 2007, Chris and Andreas recorded a demo album of original songs, called Orem, which won several awards on garageband.com. They began performing in the UK and Cyprus, recruiting Marcos Economides (Drums), Jonny Vatikiotis (Guitar) and Byron Athinodorou (Bass). With the new band members, Waterblack recorded and officially released Orem in 2011. In the same year, the album featured on MTV Ourstage and airplay followed in Greece and Cyprus along with television appearances on the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation’s main channel. In 2012, Jonny Vatikiotis left the band and was replaced with Xenios Ioannou (Guitar). Waterblack is currently based in London and in February 2016, released it’s latest single called Mutiny.
